realised i never posted an on my new instance

Hi, i'm Sijmen, a.k.a. vijfhoek, am a 28yo dutchie, and I have been a Fosstodon user for some time. Because Fosstodon wasn't really for me I started off on Misskey, then Sharkey. After a while the itch started again, and I was getting annoyed with Sharkey's bloatedness and bad Mastodon API implementation, so I looked into a new server. GoToSocial was cool but too simple, people recommended me to skip Akkoma/Pleroma/etc and to try IceShrimp.NET too, and here we are.

I like programming, specifically creating new projects and never finishing them (latest one is an mastodon API client: git.sijman.nl/vijfhoek/fedilite), and the odd embedded stuff (I've been building a keyboard I really need to finish someday it's so close).

Other than programming I like coffee, D&D, and self-hosting things. I have got a job in devops (mostly Kubernetes stuff nowadays) and am an (honestly non-practicing) embedded systems master student.

If you read this, send me cat pictures and cool things to self-host.

adhd nothing quite like the adhd-given feeling of finally finishing a 5 minute task you've been procrastinating for weeks

and then having the feeling of accomplishment drowned out by the guilt of not having done this weeks ago

it's such a frustrating thing to observe. there's no good enough, there's no compromise, it's all "my way or the highway". when someone celebrates a small victory, people argue that they should've gone for world domination instead.

@SuperDicq @aetios Helemaal mee eens. Ik snap dat ze dingen die je wel kan kiezen profileren. Een Golf GTI zorgt nou eenmaal vaker voor brokken dan een Citroën C4 Cactus, en welke auto je rijdt is iets wat je kan kiezen.

Maar profileren op leeftijd, of nog erger, op woonwijk vind ik echt bizar

roleplayed as a streamer today (streaming the unboxing of the Carbage Run starter pack with the friends I'm going on the trip with on Discord)
