Software dev who needs to compile software and runs all sorts of language servers and tests: gets a laptop with an Intel i5 and 16gb RAM
Manager who uses Word, Excel and Outlook: Intel i7 32gb RAM
Yes, this makes sense. neofox_googly

I'm just glad I finally got away from the old laptop which only had 8gb RAM and was barely usable neofox_googly

Still, only a 256gb SSD and we use Docker Desktop. I need to clean this thing up once per month

@volpeon gosh I feel this so badly, my laptop at my previous job was a Latitude with a shit-era Core i7 (i7-8850H) which the laptop's shitty cooling system couldn't keep from throttling hard. while management got shiny 12th gen laptops.

still on a pretty old laptop for my new job, but that old laptop is an M1 Max with 1TB of storage and 32GB of RAM. I'll manage :)

(i'd rather use linux but macOS is certified good enough. much better than the windows i had to deal with last job)
