@evacide @Orca I would hope Signal isn't that stupid, but I think WhatsApp is: having a system where scanning a QR code or clicking a link registered to the app begins a "link device" workflow without clearly telling you what's happening.

This is how
everyone gets popped on Discord, where they don't even call the function "link device" but "scan QR code". 🤬 🤦 🤡

@dalias @Orca @evacide WhatsApp does tell you to use the Linked Devices setting when scanning a linking code using the easy to access camera+QR scanner for adding contacts

Did you mean that, or am I confusing it with something else
