@nina_kali_nina my laptop Linux install is very much broken (WinBtrfs is nice when it works, corrupts all mounted petitions if it doesn't, apparently. But I had backups!) so might as well give it a sho…
NetBSD 10.0 has full acceleration with Intel integrated graphics up to Tiger Lake [editor's note: 11th generation], (…) There is no change in the supported GPUs in 11.0.
@sijmen if you're on desktop, sw render is probably going to be mostly okay for daily driving it, but on laptops your mileage may vary; I have a gen12 laptop that has very inconsistent FPS rateunless it's running in 720p.
@sijmen@nina_kali_nina 11 and 12th Generation isn't that different in terms of GPU though (from what I looked at in libgfxinit/coreboot) so it prooooobably wouldn't be that difficult to add?
I wish NetBSD folks would have a "kernel development/contributions for dummies". We made Chromebooks (and various different USB/bluetooth devices) work under Linux, doing so in NetBSD shouldn't be that difficult... right? softly... right?
@elly there's kernel compilation for dummies and the code base isn't difficult to navigate; took me only an hour or two to get things compiling and having a kernel debugger + cores. I had a plan to look deeper into Gen 12 support, but as you know, everything is on fire, so I've been busy with other stuff 😓
@f4grx@nina_kali_nina to be really quite fair, this really isn't btrfs' fault. it's being used in production in many places (default fedora fs, synology nases, etc). mounting a linux filesystem using a windows usermode driver just... isn't that great of an idea really
